Step 1: Wash Your Hands
Always wash your hands before handling food.
Step 2: Inspect the Dates
Check each date for signs of spoilage. Remove any fruit that looks moldy or has an unusual smell.
Step 3: Rinse If Needed
If your dates need cleaning, rinse them briefly under cool running water and gently pat them dry.
Step 4: Remove the Pit
Place one date on a clean cutting board.
Make a small cut lengthwise through the date and gently open it. Remove the hard pit from the center.
Be careful when cutting because dates can be sticky and slippery.
Step 5: Enjoy Them Whole
Once the pit has been removed, dates can simply be eaten as they are.
They make a convenient snack when paired with foods containing protein or healthy fats, such as nuts or plain yogurt.
